Exploring duck injury cases and illegal duck hunting |
Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks (FWP) is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information regarding ducks found injured by blow darts in the Billings area.
Over the past year, FWP has received multiple reports of ducks with blow dart injuries, particularly in the Shiloh Conservation Area and Rose Park on Billings' west end.
Using blow darts to harm wildlife is not only inhumane but also illegal.
Hunting within city limits and outside designated seasons is prohibited, and blow darts are not an authorized method for taking migratory birds.
Such actions can significantly threaten local duck populations.
While the injured ducks have not been immediately killed, the presence of blow darts is likely causing them considerable pain and distress.
In a related incident, FWP is also seeking information about a baby fawn deer killed by a blow dart in Roundup on March 23.
That incident occurred on the 100 block of Fifth Street West.
Individuals with information about these cases are encouraged to report it to tipmont.mt.gov.
Reports leading to a conviction may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. |
