Teacher Recognition Programs at McKinley Elementary |
Highlighting education foundation grants and the school counselor role |
At McKinley Elementary, the dedication of educators is celebrated through initiatives like "One Class at a Time," a collaborative effort by the Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools, Western Security Bank, and City Brew Coffee. This program honors teachers who go above and beyond for their students.
Recently, Ms. Kaysi Rooney, a fifth-grade teacher, was recognized for her exceptional commitment. She has been instrumental in helping students transition back to in-person learning after remote education challenges. Ms. Rooney emphasizes the importance of classroom connections and community, ensuring her students have the necessary supplies, often at her own expense. With the grant she received, she plans to purchase snacks and social-emotional learning books to enhance her classroom environment.
Another educator, Ms. Courtney Vagner, an intermediate functional life skills teacher, was also honored. She focuses on equipping her students with essential life skills, such as personal information management, reading safety signs, and financial literacy, alongside core academics. Ms. Vagner has created a comfortable and supportive learning space, fostering growth and independence among her students.
These recognitions underscore the vital role of teachers and the impact of education foundation grants in supporting innovative teaching methods. The school counselor at McKinley Elementary also plays a crucial role in student development, offering guidance and support to ensure academic and social success. Their collective efforts contribute significantly to the nurturing and education of students at McKinley Elementary. |
