Community resources available at the Billings expo

Accessing housing assistance and transportation services made simple

Billings, Mont. — The recent Bridging Montana Expo at the Billings Public Library brought together numerous organizations to offer a centralized hub for community resources, including housing assistance and transportation services.

Attendees had the opportunity to connect with service providers from across the region, simplifying access to essential programs that support individuals and families. This initiative aimed to reduce the challenge of navigating multiple offices scattered throughout the city.

Calli Bangs of Montana Employment Training Services emphasized the event's focus on accessibility and support. She noted that bringing everyone together in one safe and accessible space allows community members to see the organizations ready to assist them, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration.

Many participants discovered support services they were previously unaware of. Bangs highlighted the importance of word-of-mouth in spreading awareness, sharing that numerous attendees expressed surprise at the available resources, underscoring the expo's role in bridging information gaps.

Now in its third year, the expo has seen growing attendance, with hundreds of visitors and numerous providers participating. Sonya Latray, also with Montana Employment Training Services, pointed out that the event not only connects individuals to necessary services but also boosts their confidence to seek help. She mentioned that providing scripts and guidance helps attendees feel they are not alone in their journey.

The Bridging Montana Expo is held biannually in Billings, with the next event scheduled for December. This ongoing effort continues to strengthen community ties and ensure that essential services are within reach for all residents.
