Creative spaces in From podcasts to pen and paper: Two new creative spaces open in downtown Billings

Offering resources like a podcast studio and a photography studio for creators

Downtown Billings has recently welcomed two innovative creative spaces, offering local artists and entrepreneurs new venues to bring their visions to life. These additions provide resources such as a podcast studio and a photography studio, catering to a diverse range of creative needs.

One of these new establishments is Billings Launchpad, located at 14 S. 27th St. This creative studio offers facilities for photography, video production, and podcasting. Founded by digital marketer Philip Agyeman-Budu and photographer John Biddle, the space aims to assist businesses in enhancing their online presence through high-quality content. Agyeman-Budu, with over two decades in digital marketing, observed that many businesses struggle to create engaging videos and photos. This challenge led him to collaborate with Biddle to establish a studio equipped with a photography studio, podcast rooms, and production equipment. Clients can rent the studio for independent projects or work directly with the founders for creative direction and marketing support. The duo plans to add an infinity wall, providing a seamless background ideal for commercial photography and video production.

Another addition to the creative scene is Billings Open Studio, situated at 2814 2nd Ave N. This rentable photo studio offers a versatile venue for various types of photography and videography. The 2,000-square-foot space features 12-foot ceilings, maple wood floors, and large north-facing windows that provide exceptional natural light. The studio is equipped with Elinchrom and Flashpoint/Godox flash strobes, Aputure and Amaran continuous LEDs, and a variety of backdrops and props, creating endless possibilities for creatives. The studio has hosted photographers and videographers specializing in family photos, business headshots, boudoir, children's photos, music videos, interviews, food photography, product photography, eCommerce, fashion and editorial, birthday photos, advertisements, PSAs, and much more. The studio is managed by Eileen Bobinski, who continues to grow the space and community that was established by the original owner, Ted Kim. Bobinski is dedicated to connecting and growing the community of creatives in Billings, offering a space where artists, photographers, and performers can learn, collaborate, and display their work.

These new creative spaces reflect a growing demand for dedicated venues where individuals can produce original content. As artificial intelligence becomes more prevalent in creative industries, the founders of both studios emphasize the irreplaceable value of human imagination. They believe that authentic, original work will become even more sought after, as it offers a personal touch that AI-generated content cannot replicate. By providing these resources, Billings Launchpad and Billings Open Studio aim to empower local creators to bring their ideas to fruition, fostering a vibrant and dynamic creative community in downtown Billings.
