Community cleanup efforts in Billings |
Highlighting the great american cleanup and anti-litter initiative |
Billings residents are rolling up their sleeves for the annual Great American Cleanup, a nationwide effort to beautify communities and combat litter.
Organized locally by Bright n' Beautiful, this year's event is set for Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Volunteers will gather at the Billings Community Center and the Billings Operation Center, with check-in and supplies available starting at 8:30 a.m.
Participants will spread out across the city to collect trash and enhance public spaces.
In 2025, over 400 volunteers collected more than 20 tons of litter, demonstrating the community's commitment to a cleaner environment.
To address ongoing litter issues, the city has launched the "Bag It, Tie It, Bin It" campaign.
This initiative encourages residents to properly bag and secure their trash to prevent debris from escaping during collection and transport.
City officials report spending approximately $100,000 annually to manage litter resulting from unsecured garbage.
By adopting this simple habit, residents can significantly reduce litter and contribute to a cleaner city.
Additionally, the city's yard waste collection program resumes on Monday, April 6.
Residents are reminded to place their green bins out by 7 a.m. on their regular garbage day, ensuring lids are closed and bins are not overfilled.
Large limbs and branches can be picked up for a nominal fee.
These combined efforts reflect a proactive approach to maintaining the beauty and health of Billings.
Community participation is vital, and residents are encouraged to join the cleanup events and adopt practices that prevent litter.
By working together, Billings can continue to be a clean and welcoming place for all. |
